School Road safety campaign

Posted by councillordaveharris on January 27, 2012 at 4:20 PM

Reference the the little girl who was hurt within School Road in December 2011.

She met me on site with her family.

She backed the petition to have amendments made to improve safety.

We want

  • Crossing patrol re instated
  • Extra parking away from School road
  • Extra safety barriers at School Road roundabout
  • Extra extended zig zag yellow lines
  • A footpath crossing to Queen Elizabeth Way

all this to seperate young people from cars.

All cars go slow, but due to parking it is always a risk on these narrow roads

Yes -- thats the aim, to have a parking area away from School Road, to keep cars away from children and for disabled a place nearer for those disabled - but if anyone else parks there, they get a fine but only room for a few
