NEW UPGRADED BROADBAND COMING TO SOUTH COLCHESTER
UPGRADED INTERNET SHRUB END
As many residents in the urban area of Shrub End and Berechurch have seen, lots of work is going on for internet upgrades. It is essential for business , for services, and residents to be well connected in the modern world. So the upgrade is welcome. Other areas are to be targeted next.
The project will be providing the new technology of full fibre to the premises in our area. This will be a significant change in connectivity as many services currently deployed range from 30-100mbps whereas the new system will be offering 1000 mbps (or gigabit). This will be game changing in many ways particular post covid as many of us continue to work from home. It is believed it will help businesses with new ways of working through cloud based applications and significantly it is expected to help the resident’s in many areas from online GP consultations, energy savings through SMART technology, digital healthcare benefits and better opportunities in education
So much of our area is being worked on to ensure we as a community get this investment in our connectivity.
Any works cause disruption, but the workers are ensuring we still can go about our daily business. Also the streets have been cleaned and looked after as work progresses.
The plans include Shrub End estate, Abbey Field, Berechurch, King George and Queen Mary area, and many other streets
As to those who have no ability to use internet, or no wish to connect or use computers or smart phones, I will always argue for those to be allowed to access services in the conventional way .
